What is IOLUG?
- IOLUG, founded in 1982, is an organization established for the purpose of furthering the use of online systems, databases, computers and telecommunication systems in libraries.
Who may join?
- Membership is open to all individuals interested in electronic information access systems.
What are IOLUG's objectives?
- To provide a mechanism for communication with database producers, search services, telecommunication networks and other producers of electronic information products and services, concerning the needs of its members.
- To cooperate with other appropriate organizations.
- To publish items such as newsletters and other documents useful to its membership and others.
- To provide continuing education opportunities on electronic information access topics.
What are IOLUG activities?
- Fall and Spring day-long programs every year. Topics have included database searching, online security, copyright, digitization, electronic reference, and telecommunications.
- Publication of the IOLUG Newsletter.
- Other projects which promote dissemination of information on activities and advances related to the computerized organization, storage and retrieval of information.
What will I get for joining IOLUG?
- Two programs each year on electronic information access topics, with admission at low member rates.
- A subscription to IOLUG's informative newsletter.
How do I join IOLUG?
- Easy! Just fill out our online Membership form, and then mail your check for $20 ($10 for library school students) to the Membership Officer. The membership year runs from September to August.
How do I become active in IOLUG?
- Just indicate in your application form in the appropriate space that you would like to join a committee. (See below for a list of IOLUG committees.)
How is IOLUG governed?
- IOLUG has a 13 member Board of Directors, ten of whom are elected. The INCOLSA Representative (Indiana Cooperative Library Services Authority) is an ex officio member as are the Chair of the Programming Committee and Website Editor.
- IOLUG has two permanent committees and two appointed officers.
