Memory, Heritage, Visions:

Poetry, Music, Maps, Sound...
Across Indiana the scanners are working overtime, trying to provide access to the treasures of our libraries' archives. Five years ago, IOLUG's program was on the state-wide digital library movement. Our Spring Program will look at the progress we've made, discuss the mistakes made along the way, and express excitement and hope about documenting the lives of Hoosiers and their heritage.
Three distinct groups of projects will be highlighted during our keynote sessions:
- Robin Crumrin of IUPUI and Connie Rendfeld of the Indiana State Library will introduce Indiana Memory, the newest state-wide initiative scheduled to launch this spring.
- Cinda May of Indiana State University will update us on the Wabash Valley Visions and Voices project and how it has progressed over the past half decade since she last shared with IOLUG.
- Howard Trace will discuss Hoosier Heritage, an INCOLSA consortium of digitization projects.
Share a networking luncheon with like-minded professionals from across the State.
Afternoon breakout sessions will include lessons on collaboration and project planning (John Straw and Jim Bradley, Ball State), the grant writing process (Connie Rendfeld), show and tell at the IUPUI Digital Library Lab (Jenny Johnson and Blake Stiener).
There will also be a Digital Library Fair featuring unique projects from all around Indiana. There will be ample opportunity throughout the day to chat with those in the trenches of digitization about their successes and strategies.
NOTE - There will also be an IOLUG Special Announcement about assistance for an exciting Professional Development Opportunity in 2008.
