Marketing Your Library On the WebIndiana Online Users Group Spring 2005 Program |
It used to be "how do we bring our patrons through the front door..." The question now is "how do we bring our virtual patrons through our web front door." We know our users are out there, using the web to virtually exist. So, how can we market our library services and databases to bring in our virtual patrons? Our keynote speaker, Glenn Peterson, Web Administrator of the Hennepin County Library system in Minneapolis, MN, will be addressing such questions. He will share with us how his metropolitan library system is using the web to market their library services and resources. Topics to be covered include:
- increasing web site use through patron online interaction with the library
- using tools & skills needed to implement interactive features, both free and commercial
- bridging your library's web site and online catalog to benefit from the synergy of these two resources
- including web-based services that will attract kids and teens
- adding value to your web site through library staff involvement
- creating web-based tools to enable staff to contribute quickly and efficiently (and give them a sense of ownership)
- working with key library staff to integrate your print and web marketing efforts
- marketing the site through your staff and your staff's in-person services through the site
Our afternoon sessions will further explore various web marketing techniques.
