INFORMATION LITERACY
Sure, it includes teaching about the Internet, but there's so
much more!
May 5, 2000
1300 E. 96th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana
Following the Fall 1999 program on electronic resources, our Spring 2000 program will focus on information literacy; how to plan to include information literacy, how to teach, and how to apply information literacy in your work. Come join us as we learn!
The morning speakers will address topics geared toward public, academic, special, and school librarians, including:
- types of library instruction and how to choose appropriate content
- active learning techniques and making instruction more user-centered
- teaching librarians to teach
- partnering with community organizations and faculty
- planning a successful training program
- marketing a training program
- resources for setting up an electronic classroom
The afternoon session will include speakers from outside the library profession, who will discuss and answer questions about information literacy, how they incorporate information literacy into their work, working with librarians, and provide information about their programs. Jeffrey Beck, Wabash College, will moderate.
